This 1966 Volkswagen Type 1 “Beetle” was purchased by the current owner in June of 2017. Power comes from the original 1300cc flat 4 cylinder which was rebuilt to 1600cc. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 4 speed “Freeway Flyer” transaxle. The car was refinished in 2007 in the original Bahama Blue. The interior is finished in black vinyl.

The original 1300cc engine was rebuilt in January 2018. The engine displacement was enlarged to 1600cc. Approximately 3500 miles have been added since the rebuild.

The engine is mated to a newer “Freeway Flyer” transaxle. The Freeway Flyers have taller gear ratios, resulting in lower rpm’s at highway speeds.

The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts.
A spare parts package is included in the sale.

Conversation for 1966 Volkswagen Type 1
Here are additional comments from the owner.
The photos of the car are current. The car has been garaged and covered since they were taken.
The only defects that I am aware of are that the windshield washer tank is not connected to the spare tire via a pneumatic hose and the spare tire (which is a brand new, full-sized, Michelin radial) does not fit in the tire well in the trunk.
The floor pans are original and very solid. There was one piece (about the size of the palm of your hand) that was cut out of the floor pan below the battery and a new piece of metal was welded in and coated with undercoating.
The car does not leak or burn oil. There are about 3,500 miles on the engine.
The car has not been involved in any collisions. There are no areas of damage or repair. Both the nose and frame are straight and original.
I have a clean California title and the car is not a salvage vehicle. I know the history of the car from the original owner. I am the fourth owner.
