Overview
This 1975 Porsche 914 has been built for rally use, but remains street legal. It features a 3.3 liter engine, a 901 side shift transaxle, and a strengthened chassis with NASA compliant roll cage. The exterior is finished in black with gray metallic fender flares. The interior is built for racing and includes OMP seats with 6 point harnesses, and a quick release steering wheel.

Exterior
The car spent the majority of it’s life in a dry California climate and is said to be rust free. It is finished in gloss black with gray metallic fender flairs. The chassis was built for rally competition and includes a NASA rally compliant roll cage and an up to date log book. Areas of the chassis have been reinforced with welded in plates and tubing. The front suspension has been upgraded with custom A-arms with Heim joints, 19mm Tarret engineering sway bar, and upgraded tie rods. All four corners are equipped with custom made Fox 2.0 coil-overs with 10″ of travel. The rear is equipped with a 22mm Tarret Engineering torsion bar. The sale includes two sets of Minilite wheels, one fitted with Pirelli gravel tire, the other wearing Toyo RA1 tarmac tires. An LED light bar and upgraded HID headlights are also present.

Interior
The interior of the car has been minimalized for weight reduction. It includes OMP seats with 6 point harnesses. The dash features a quick release steering wheel and a 10,000 rpm VDO tachometer.

Engine
The cases of the 3.3 liter engine were sourced from a 930. New steel head studs were installed. The 74.4mm stroke crank shaft has new OEM main bearings. The crank shaft holds forged connecting rods that have been rebuilt, lightened, balanced, cryogenically treated, surface polished, and installed with ARP rod bolts and Clevite rod bearings. The 97mm Mahle cylinders house custom forged 10.5 to 1 pistons, held in place by light weight RaceTec wrist pins. The heads are 935 twin plug factory racing heads with high RPM valve springs. They were rebuilt by CMW motorsports. The valves are actuated by new billet WebCam camshafts and rocker arms. Engine peripherals include a 930 oil pump and new timing chains, rails, intermediate shaft, and mechanical tensioners. Fuel is feed by PMO 50mm carburetors wearing K&N filters and rain hats. Spark comes from an ElectroMotive Crankfire ignition. Exhaust flows through a 1-3/4″ European Racing header with Super Trap mufflers and is said to be very quiet. The engine was tested for approximately 3 hours prior to installation. The engine is estimated to have 300 horse power and was designed for drivability between 2000 and 7800 RPM. A new 95 Amp alternator has been installed.

Drivetrain
The 901/ 914 side shift transaxle has a billet inter plate and side cover for added strength. The transaxle is equipped with 930 CV joints with chromoly cages and modified stub axles, and Sway Away custom drive shafts. Stopping power comes from Wilwood four piston calipers in the front and the stock calipers in the rear. A Neal Brakes turning hand brake is also present.

Having been in college around the time the 914 and 914-6, I fell in love when my brother-in-law brought home a new 914-6 home from the dealer and immediately converted into a race car for SCCA.
Hello @ike9146, are you restarting the auction? I’m interested
Omar the auction is back up. Thanks @ike9146
Did you ever sell this 914?
The auction closed without the reserve being met.
I applaud the decision to restart the auction at what was, presumably, your reserve price. That should clear things up for any potential bidders.
Well, I won but below reserve. Maybe start the auction at your reserve price next time?
I would think that if cars like this are selling for over $95k that a bid of $3,300 will not reach the reserve and you are not realistic of the true value of this car and maybe you should not be bidding on it. If you would like to truly put in an offer than you can contact me.
Or the car is not worth the amount you have spent on it or what other car have sold for IMO That is Race Cars.
For the price of 39k you can get a AWD modern race turbo rally car that is prep and ready to race.
The cost of vintage Porsche air cooled engines and cars have gone up over the years. The engine in this car is valued at over $30k and you would not know that if you are not a Porsche guy.Yes you can buy a modern rally car for this price but it is not an air cooled Porsche.Porsche factory built rally race cars will cost you several Million dollars today.
Yet that was the winning bid. I have no doubt that this car is worth considerably more in parts, or if you reverted it back into a street car, but as it currently sits clearly it is worth considerably less than the Bring a Trailer example that you’re referring to.
Maybe I’m not the one being unrealistic here.
I am only looking for a fair price for the car.The engine alone is worth $30K. The heads that are on this engine are the same that Porsche used for the 935 and the 911SC/RS rally cars and cost $10k. Porsche air cooled engines prices have gone up over the years and Porsche guys know what they cost to build.Bids for $3,300 dollars for this car are not realistic.

Even after bidding I don’t see a reserve. Does this mean there isn’t one? Or is the reserve amount not shown?
reserve is not given to public. You will have to bid high enough to reach a number above the reserve. The last 914-6 gt replica I saw on BAT sold for $95k
Yes, but this a twice DNF rally car. The failures Indications of poor prep. Yes the engine and everything are nice but it hasn’t finished a rally. It would need a fire suppression system to race in ARA.
No a cage designer but now typically the door bars need to be crossed.
This might be just a Rallyx car. Nice one but still a rallyx car.
The car is in perfect working condition and the cage has passed the Nasa rallsport inspection.the rules may have changed with ARA but if you are going to run with ARA you may have to see if it would pass with them. The DNF was caused by a bad Ground cable and has a new and improved one. The car runs very well and has been tested at NCM and on the road.

Hi do you have a reserve price on the car?
you will need to bid to see if is.

On what rallies has this 914/6 competed? What were its results?
The Fist outing was Glen Helen Extreme rally x fastest lap time over all in 2017. East Tennessee rally x Dnf broken throttle cable. Sandblast rally South Carolina Dnf broken ground cable IN 2018. Scca time trial NCM We only did the practice runs to test the car and was running well, no problems in 2019. Car has only been driven on the road to have fun on weekends, I have not had time to do any other events.
Loverly and vile kit at same time! GLWS
