Overview
This Spitfire shows 18,391 miles and has been maintained in original condition. All electrics operate properly except the radio. The radio is original Leland AM, but will only play static. The Exterior is finished in factory White with a Black convertible top over a Black interior. The car was repainted approximately 10 years ago in its original White using single-stage paint. The interior is well maintained with original seats, dashboard facia, and carpet. The lifting jack and tire changing equipment are still in the factory bag in the trunk, as well as the spare tire with cover and mat. The convertible top is factory original with a diamond pattern on the underside. All plastic windows are clear with minimal scuff marks. The original 1.5 litre engine starts easily with very little choke. The 4-speed manual gearbox shifts as it should. This 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 has been in a private collection its entire life.

Exterior
The exterior of the car is finished in a 10-year-old repaint of its original factory single stage White. The top is Black and is original to the car. The car shows well with all chrome and decals in good condition. The factory wheels wear Michelin tires. All lights and indicators function as they should. Additional pictures of the exterior are available in the gallery below.

Interior
The interior is finished in Black and retains its original seats and carpet. The wood-trimmed dash is also original. The car retains its factory-equipped Leland AM radio, but it only produces static. The factory dash pad and door panels show no signs of cracks or tears. The steering wheel frames a tachometer and a 120 MPH speedometer. Factory equipped fuel and temperature gauges are also present. Additional interior pictures are available in the gallery below.

Powertrain
Power comes from the factory-equipped 1500cc inline 4 cylinder. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The 1976 models of the 1500 engine were equipped with 9.1:1 compression ratio pistons. All other years were equipped with 7.5:1 (U.S. models) to contend with lower-quality fuel. Additional powertrain pictures are available in the gallery below.

Chassis
The Spitfire 1500 was given longer swing axles than previous iterations. Along with a lowered spring mounting point for a more negative camber and a wider rear track. The floor and trunk pans in this example are solid, with no evidence of corrosion. Additional undercarriage pictures are available in the gallery below.

Conversation for 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500
I had so much fun with my 66 red spitfire. I was 17 playing guitar in a rock band. I was drafted and sent to Vietnam. My folks sold the car. I have missed it for all these years, but put it on the back burner. I am 73 and want that car. Love it!
